1) Remote & In-person Internship Programme

The Australian Disputes Centre (ADC) runs a voluntary internship programme in-person in Sydney or remotely for law students and recent law graduates with an active interest in mediation, arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution processes. Both domestic and international applicants are welcome to apply. 

Within the role, interns will have the opportunity to work across different streams of the organisation depending on their interests and available projects. Interns may be able to contribute to, for example: 

  • Researching and drafting communications, articles and other materials 
  • Planning of events and seminars 
  • Assistance with ADR training initiatives 
  • Individual projects in alignment with the organisation’s objectives 

Interns have the option for flexible work hours. 

Applications for up to 20 May 2024 are now being accepted. Internship candidates need to demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability to work both in a collaborative team environment and independently 
  • Strong academic qualifications 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Strength in drafting 
  • Initiative
  • High standard of computer literacy

2) APCMC Internship

The ADC-ICC Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition (APCMC) is the region’s premier moot competition devoted to international commercial mediation and negotiation, attracting student teams from leading Universities across Australia, Asia, the South Pacific, India, the Americas and Africa. APCMC intern applications are now open for business and law students in their penultimate year in 2023. We are looking for outgoing students with initiative, great communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work well in a small, dynamic team. 

Successful applicants will have a chance to work closely with ADC and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including other universities, student societies, lawyers, mediators, and community and ADR organisations. 

Interns will also support the APCMC Organising Committee in tasks such as: 

  • Drafting correspondence and invitations 
  • Event planning and organisation 
  • Liaising with key stakeholders and volunteers 

This is an amazing opportunity for students to learn about mediation by supervising rounds of mediations and listening to the feedback from judges. 

This is an unpaid internship. ADC -ICC are looking to fill these positions immediately. Students will be working one day a week with time off during the summer holidays and flexibility around your Uni timetable. The internship will end on 30 September 2023

3) Marketing Intern

The Australian Disputes Centre (ADC) is seeking interns for a marketing internship programme in-person in Sydney or remotely. Both domestic and international applicants are welcome to apply. 

Successful applicants will have an opportunity to work with ADC to produce marketing graphics and communication with key stakeholders. Interns will also have the opportunity to: 

  • Prepare marketing proposals 
  • Supporting the team in various marketing tasks 

Applicants must be able to work with a small, dynamic team, demonstrate initiative, creativity and attention to detail and have excellent communication and computer literacy skills.

Remuneration

The internship programme is run on a voluntary basis; as not for profit organisations ADC is not in a position to remunerate interns. Interns will need to cover their own costs associated with any required travel or accommodation during the internship.

Please also note that ADC cannot offer visa sponsorship; applicants will need to make their own arrangements in this regard.
