The team at ADC have caught their breath after the mammoth undertaking that is the ADC-ICC Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition. Wondering what all the fuss is about? Catch a snippet of the action with the APCMC 2023 welcome video, then see the Programme, Winners’ table and Grand-Final video, all linked below. We are in awe of the students’ commitment and talent, and ever grateful for the depth of professional expertise our volunteers so generously provide.
Leading up to APCMC 2023, ADC held two major seminars that attracted hundreds of registrants. Thank you to everyone who attended. If you missed either of these events - the collaboration of ADR institutions from across Asia on the uptake of ‘Med-Arb’ and the powerful insights of Tony McAvoy SC and Daniel Rosendale on ‘The Voice & ADR’ - we have the video recordings for you here.

In early September, I had the great pleasure of speaking at the recent National Mediation Conference in my old hometown of Wellington, NZ. The complexity of environmental disputes arises from the sheer breadth of issues that can be involved, and I shared with delegates some of the work in the sector that ADC has been involved in reviewing or evaluating. We include one of those Case Studies in our Thought Leadership section below. DLA Piper highlights the importance of Australian Tribunals in their article, The ‘big’ place for small claims, and ADC Intern, Grace Wong shares her comparative review of arbitration in Hong Kong and Australia.
For those in Sydney on 19 October, ADC in collaboration with Chief Justice Bell, is presenting the 6th Annual ADR Address of the Supreme Court of NSW with Prof Luke Nottage presenting the address. This is a free event and seats are limited. I encourage you to register early.
ADC consistently hears from participants that our leading mediation and conflict capabilities training programmes are second to none. If you or your team need to hone your skills, join one of our public courses or call ADC to discuss your in-house needs. We are an independent, not-for-profit company and we are here to help!
Warm Regards, Deborah
